Can't restore individual mailboxes

Everytime I try to restore a single mailbox, BE restores the entire information store. I am selecting GRT on the original backup and the restore jobs, I have reinstalled the latest agents, I can SEE the individual mailboxes right down to the individual messeages. But on a restore job of a single mailbox it ALWAYS restores 27GB which is the size of the entire IS. I have no idea what I am missing: been using BE for over a decade. Any ideas? Anyone? Pretty please?

That's the way BE 12.5 restores the Exchange mailboxes/individual items. There is no work-around unfortunately!
Try this to stage to disk, and restore from there:

Are you backing up to tape?if so, you have to do disk staging. then restore the individual mailboxes from disk.
