Are you all just waiting to see how long I wait until I start prying the tape out with a paperclip? Or can somebody help me make it stop and make it stop NOW?
A job got stuck last night, spent 11 hours on one small file. I tried to cancel it about 2.25 hours ago. Backup Exec seems to be responding, the job went from "Active" to "Cancel Pending". But how long should I wait? And is there anything (non-destructive!) I can do to force a cancel?

If rebooting the server is not an option, I would go into the Settings | Control Panel | Administrative Tools | Services, and stop every service that starts with the word "Backup Exec". Then, restart them.
Thanks for your help. It took some doing because all of the services did not stop on the first try. I had to go restart the remote agent service on the server that the backup was working on so hard for 11 hours. Then it let me stop the media server's services. There ought to be an easier way :-(.
