Cannot Find Tapes Every Wednesday

HI There,

We have 2 Sites, every day we do the same routine with the tapes, Inventory, Label and Erase, on every other day except Wednesday the Backup Run OK, On wednesday it will run the first backup of the set and then ask for media to be input.

We have no tape retention setup anywhere, but for some reason there is always a problem on Wednesday Nights Backup.

Has anyone any Ideas where I can check to see if there is anything set to cause this to happen?

What kind of drive do you have? What kind of media are you using?

How much data is backed up on Wed before it asks for a new tape?

Is it the same job run each night? or separate jobs?

They are seperate Jobs but they are the same jobs which is scheduled to run every day. The first job is set to overwrite and the rest are set to append but cancel if no appendable media is present.

What kind of drive do you have? What kind of media are you using?

We are Using the HP Ultrium SureStore 2600 with 1 Drive, with LTO 1 tapes in our Rayleigh Office and in London we are Using the Ultrium SureStore 9600, with 2 drives using with LTO 3

How much data is backed up on Wed before it asks for a new tape?

In Rayleigh it backups up about 185 GB before asking for additional Media.

It backups up the windows servers as that is the first job, but our netware servers that that uses the second drive asks for the tape and does not backup anything,

Hello,
What kind of compression are you using, please check if the second drive supports hardware compression. Also try the same backup with the first drive.
