Cannot browse selection list - Remote Agent Crash

    Hi,

I've recently installed a second scsi card in a server running backup exec 11. (SP2)

After this, when i try to browse a selection list, the remote agent (on the BE server) crashes with the following error:

Code:
Event Type: ErrorEvent Source: Application ErrorEvent Category: (100)Event ID: 1000Faulting application beremote.exe, version 11.0.7170.32, faulting module ntdll.dll, version 5.2.3790.3959, fault address 0x0002bc34.

Reinstalling BE was not a solution.
I need the second scsi card for the tape drive, the first one is used as a raid host controller.

Thanks in advance for any pointers to a solution...

I am having this exact same problem except that there has been no new hardware installation. This has happened after an upgrade from 10 Small Business (Veritas) BENT to 11d Small Business on Windows 2003 Small Business Server SP2. Symantec Endpoint 11 Enterprise has recently been installed. Simply, when attempting to open the backup tab, there are no selections presented and when you look at windows Services, the remote agent has terminated. All selections and schedules have been deleted. there are no extra logon accounts. I have run through the list of suggestions in the document to troubleshoot the remote agent including defragging the hard drives and nothing works. the customer is getting rather frustrated.

I have attached some of the Debug Monitor Output.

Any news on this matter?  I am having the same problem on two servers (different locations) where the backups were running fine before.

In my case, i started to make temporary back-ups with NT Backup.
This worked fine for 2 days, then i got errors telling me the RSM database was corrupt.

Looking for a solution to that problem, i found a article somewhere stating this could be due to a changed serial number for a tape drive. Which could have been the case, during troubleshooting and changing SCSI cards, the number can change.

The fix for this (the nt backup problem), was to stop the RSM service, delete the RSM database, start the RSM service so the database is rebuild. NT Backup worked again.

After that BE started working again without any errors, a bit weird since BE doesn´t use the RSM service. It´s even better to disable it when using BE.

Best regards,
Thomas
