Catalog problem

 Hi all,

BE 8.6, Win2000SRV, Dell PowerVault 130T library

I must restore some data from an old backup set ( 3 tapes), I get in the logs the messages below and I can't restore because I don't find all the data.

Messages:

On one tape:
"The media for sequence number 3 in this media family has not been inventoried.
No sets on this media may be cataloged."

On the second one:
"Backup of "\\UAGOFFICE01\Y$ "
Backup set #10 on storage media #2
Backup set description: "FULL Samstag Job3"
The media for sequence number 3 in this media family has not been inventoried.
No sets on this media may be cataloged.
The media operation was terminated."

What's wrong ?
Should I be care to something by a catalog procedure ?
I mean can I start the procedure with each tape or should I start with a specific tape ( the first, the last or....)

Thanks
Andrew

You can start with any tape, it will request what tape it wants and you can continue.  In this instance you will need to inventory all sequences of the set.  If your backup job(s) went to the 3 tapes then the index/catalog of BE is on the set of tapes.

Make sure all 3 tapes are in the library & inventory them, when the inventory is complete then run a catalog on them.
Then your restore selections will be avalible.

the drive tape should be a issue,

Is that tape HCART3 ?/ Is the drive set as HCART3 ??

in that case U should change the HCART type of the drive to the same of the tape
be sure that no job will run while that restore is happening.

I hope it works..
