Catalogs directory - expected/normal size

I was looking at the catalogs directory and the the size of the fodler is 12GB - is this normal? I know this is might be a difficult questions due to the many variables, but is the way to large?

The server has been running for about 1 year, backups 1 Linux server (weekly 1.2TB+daily diff) and 3 Windows servers (weekly 200GB+daily diff). There are a few ".fh" files which are 500MB on certain odd days, I did have a few rogue backups which generated massive logs files, could this cause this?

As you say, the size of your catalog depends on the amount of data you are backing up.

You can trim the catalogs, which wil retain the volume info, but delete the details.  You would need to re-catalog a tape that has been trimmed before you could restore from it

Of you can move the \Catalogs folder to a drive with more free space See http://seer.entsupport.symantec.com/docs/264680.htm
