Central Admin Server Backup Exec 2010

Hello, i have an question,

Customer has an primary Backup Exec 2010. The server have more than 40 Jobs, B2D and Libary . We have 3 more Backup Exec 2010 Servers in other Locations. Now he have buyed the Central Server Admin Licence. What happens when i make the Primary Backup Exec Server to the Central Admin Server?

Can i also Backup local data with the Libary ? Are my Jobs all gone ?

Hi Thomas,

 

It all really depends on where you locate your catalogs. If you keep them on the MMS servers, then the CASO is a glorified reporting and centralised management tool (which is what I used it for); if you replicate the catalogs, then you have offsite recoverability of them; and if you centralise them on the CASO, it then dishes out jobs etc. to the MMS servers.

Are you wanting to control the MMS servers and initiate jobs on them via the CASO? Do you want to back them all up via the CASO (ie. backup locally on site, and then duplicate the information to the CASO)?
