Compatibility of backup from previous version

I was wondering if we could use a backup from the BEWS 8.5 version and restore it using BEWS 9.1.

Yes.

BackupExec will read and restore any backup written in Microsoft Tape Format (MFT) as long as it was not created with a proprietary software compression.

Along with that, what Ken has suggested,
you would also need to catalog and inventory the tapes before the restore

Thank you for the replies. I would wish to know also if the old partitions will be restored as well?
