Compression problem

I use VERITAS 9.1 with compaq DDS4 DAT 20/40 drive
The firmware is 1.16 and I have update dthe driver as well
It is running on W2K sp4.
I cannot get more than 21 gb at best on a 20 gb tapes
The "Enable compression" is ticked on the device proprerty tab

Any ideas?

Not a real answer but you might try to test if your drive is compressing by backing up some test data with BE and/or Windows backup.Then check the compression rate you get with both programs. At least you will then know your drive will compress.

Using the manufacter tape driver instead of the BE one is another option.
