Configure Full/Incremental Backups

Hi,

I am being passed over some responsiblitlies regarding backups for a few clients. This is a little confusing to me. I hope you can help me. And any help is greatly appreciated!!!

I have Backup Exec 12.5 on Windows 2008 R2.

I would like to set up one backup job that backs up all Windows shares, I know how to select content within a share. The backup will run Monday thru Friday. Now, here's where I need help. I would like to have a full backup run every 2nd Friday. Every other night it would run Incremental backups. Once the time comes for a full to run, I would like the previous full and its incrementals to be purged/deleted. The full backup will take about 25 hours. How can I do this?

Thanks for looking at this and I appreciate your help in advance!!

Check below as this will describe how to set up your Append/OPP settings in order to allow the FULL/INCR to be overwritten correctly:

Hi EShiram,

BE 12.5 does not support Windows Server 2008 R2 as a media server. Check the TN below. At a minimum you should be on Backup Exec 2010 R3 with the latest SP.

You'd need to get onto a supported version. Once done the Admin Guide has all you need to know, but you'd basically have a policy with a FULL backup selected on your specific day and the rest would be INCR.

Thanks!

Ah great that is helpful. How can I set retention to delete previous full?
