D2D -> then to Tape -> then delete D2D files: Can this be done?

I have a policy which one template does a full backup to disk, then another template which duplicates that data to tape.

Is there a way to delete the disk to disk files once the duplicate to tape job runs and verifies?

Why wouldn't you go straight to tape if this is the case, I would have thought keeping the backup to disk until the next overwrite would make restoring easier.
