Database or Database Element corrupt

solid.db always causes the backup to return failed "Database or Database Element corrupt" The solid server is always running. Do I need to stop it before the back up starts? If so can anyone give me a script to stop and then restart after the backup is complete. Any other suggestions would be appreciated.
