Erase backup-to-disk folder with bemcmd?

When I try to erase a backup-to-disk folder using the bemcmd utility, I get a result of "-1" indicating that the job failed. I can erase tapes with bemcmd fine, so the command does work.

Is there a limitation that prevents bemcmd from erasing backup-to-disk folder contents?
