So, I tried a suggestion from another forum post.  I completely rebuilt the job in BU.  New selection list, new job, new everything.   Exact same result on the job.   It runs about 518,120 bytes.. then fails off with the exact same message.

Can you access the files/folders reported in the job log using windows explorer? Can you copy few files/folders for which you get this error to another drive/server and then run a backup from there?

Yes.. From my BE server, I log in as the backup service account that we use.  I can then go to the \\server1\c$  and write / delete / change / move / create files / delete files / save etc...

Will try to copy some of  the folders to another location and try another backup from that location.

Yes..  I can copy, move, delete files by simply unc to the server from our BE server, using the service account.  Which is the strange part.  Everything works in windows, and on EVERY other server.  Simply this one server is the issue.

I will see if I can copy some data to another location and try to back up the new location.

Go to the BE installation directory and use BEUtility to repair the BEDB.
