Error 1065: The database specified does not exist.

Hi,

Each time i restart the "Backup Exec Device & Media Service" i get the following error on screen.

"Could not start the backup exec device & media service service on local computer - Error 1065: The database specified does not exist."

Also in the Event log (system) the event log is

"Event ID: 7023

Description:
The Backup Exec Device & Media Service, Service Terminated with the following error:

The database specified does not exist."


This problem started once i updated my Exchange 2000 with the following:-

1) http://support.microsoft.com/kb/870540/

2) http://www.microsoft.com/technet/security/bulletin/ms06-019.mspx?pubDate=2006-04-11


I've check the following : -
1) MDAC for mismatches (None are present) current on 2.8 RTM
2) Service logon details are all ok
3) Connective to the SQL database created by Veritas is ok when creating a new ODBC link.
4) I've also tested with SQL Enterprise Manager and i can connect without any problems.

I've even uninstall Veritas Backup Exec 9.1 and reinstall but it doesn't make any difference.

I hope some can help.

Hi,

Have you changed the logon account information e.g user name or domain name?

Try repairing BE database. Refer: http://support.veritas.com/docs/265180

Hi,

I can't run the BEUTILY because some of the services are not running and it displays can't connect to the Database to run a repair.


Is it possible to pay Veritas Support for telephone/DirectAssist help in resolving this issue, Because i'm unable to do a backup of this system.
