Error 1065: The database specified does not exist

Windows Server 2003 SP1
SQL Server 2000 SP3a

I have just installed BUEX 10d

The "Backup Exec Device & Media Service" will not run, terminating with the error "Error 1065: The database specified does not exist"

I have tried attaching and detaching the database in Enterprise Manager

Component Checker shows me that 3 files are missmatched

MSADCO.DLL - EXV 2.82.1830 - V 2.82.2651
OLEDB32.DLL - EXV 2.82.1830 - V 2.80.1022
sqluinirl.dll - EXV 2000.80.728 - V 2000.080.2039

Since i have MDAC SP2 which is part of SP1 and cant be downloaded, i am unsure that a) these files are causing the problem and b) if so how to get the correct ones.

Any other suggestions would also be appreciated

I'm assuming that Backup Exec and SQL are installed on the same server and you selected to install the BE database on the existing SQL instance...To test out local connectivity to SQL create a user data link to see if a test connection will work. On the server with Backup Exec installed, use http://support.veritas.com/docs/256661 for this. If the connection fails or any errors are encountered, Microsoft may need to be engaged. The udl will test MDAC/ODBC/OLE SQL connection. The mismatches you found may or may not be a problem since some Microsoft updates will update those files.

Followup: Component Checker MDAC mismatches are normally OK as long as the files present are more recent than what was expected. If they are older than what was expected, you will need to get the file updated to the expected version.

Thanks for the help russ

Yes its a single server with SQL and BUEX installed onto it, SQL has 2 DB instances one servername\BKUPEXEC

I followed the HTP a quick test guide but when i right click the .udl file i only have the general security and summary tabs theres no provider tab?

Does this help?
