Error 1603 when trying to install RAWS agent on Windows XP SP1

Hi,

I am trying to install the RAWS agent on a Windows XP SP1 and keep getting a 1603 error when the installer is trying to install .Net.

I know that .NET 3 is requiring XP SP2 but I unfortunately cannot upgrade my XP version due to issues with a hosted application.

Also, there is no install log created when I try to install the agent.

Really looking forward for a little bit of help!

What is the version of BE? Have you tried local installation by copy the RAWS folder to the XP box.

On XP machine browse to C:\Doc& settings\All user\Symantec\Backup Exec\logs\

do you see bkupinst.htm file.

Sorry that it took me so long to aswer...

I did try that previously, when I launch the setupaa.cmd or setupaofo.cmd script the command prompt window open and close with no error message, no event logged.

What is BE? 

Yes, I tried the local install and didn't work.

Unfortunately there is not even a Symantec folder under all user on the XP machine.

Thanks for the reply... It did help a little bit. The remote registry service was started but failing on the machine, uninstalling MS06-003 did the trick.

The install is still not working, I found more details on the error:

10-27-2011,11:18:16 : Windows Operating System Version: 5.1 

10-27-2011,11:18:18 : Checking for .Net Framework 2.0 SP 2. 

10-27-2011,11:21:54 : The correct version of .NET was not detected

10-27-2011,11:21:54 : The .NET file C:\DotNetFx\dotnetfx35.exe was not found, installlation cannot continue. 

The .NET Framework 2.0 work on XP SP1 but the only available version of .NET 2.0 I can found is .NET 2.0 SP1 that is only supported on XP SP2 and higher.

This is why I believe that my whole problem is that I cannot upgrade my machine to XP SP2. 

Do you know if there is somewhere an old RAWS that would not require the .NET 2.0?
