Error-Handling Rules Pros/Cons

Greetings all,

We're trying to implement more damage control when backup jobs fail.  Currently we have the MOM system in place to notify us when jobs fail or when space on target servers drops below a certain percentage.  However in my research to assist us in this endeavor I came across the Error-Handling Rules in Backup Exec.  While the idea of jobs automatically retrying is appealing, it was brought to my attention that those repeated attempts to complete one job might cause equipment to seize or other jobs to fail.

Have any of you ever tried implementing Error-Handling Rules?  If so, what were your results?  Would you recommend that we implement them in our environment?

Thanks in advance.

If it helps any, we're using all Dell equipment in our datacenter.
