Error message about robotic libary after tape drive replacement

The tape drive in one of my customers servers broke down and i replaced it with a HP DLT VS160. I have changed the backup jobs to use that drive instead but backup exec gives me this error message:
"Erase Drive 0004 -- The job failed with the following error: Library error - incompatible storage media detected in robotic library."

The machine isn't connected to a robotic libary. It is only connected to a simple DLT drive. The closest thing to a robot is the old lady changing tapes.

I have tried both with the HP driver and the one in the latest driver package for Backup Exec 9.1. The firmware for the drive is the latest from HP.

What kind of tape media are you using? 

What kind of drive was previously installed?

I think the drive installed before was a 40/80 GB model but the customer is not using the old tapes. They are using the tape that came with the drive + 6 of the same model.

In that case, I'd say that it is either a driver issue, or the drive itself is bad

Have you tried the manufacturer's drivers?

Have you tried a few passes of the manufacturer's diagnostics/
