Backup exec 7.3 fails cleaning needed.

I have Backup Exec 7.3 running on an NT 4 server and the backup always works like it should except for one thing. The drive requires a cleaning after 24 hours of the heads turning and that is fine except it happens to be that the 24 hours always ends up to be during a backup and that backup always fails. so about every 6 days the backup fails is there a way that we can schedule a cleaning so that it wont interfere with the backup job for that night? Im sure there is something that I could be doing wrong but any help would be appreciated. Thanks in advance.

If the system is that old, the tapes may be degrading, and leaving some of the oxide on the heads at every pass

If this is on a loader, you can schedule a cleaning job by defining a cleaning slot

if it is a standalone drive, just run a cleaning tape the day before you expect to get the error
