Event 33152

Hello,

Environment: Windows 2003 Server Standard
Product: Veritas Backup Exec for Windows Servers 10.0 MSDE Instance
Server: New HP ML350 G4 with new HP C7438A Tape streamer
Drivers: Veritas v5.1.1.1

It's a new installation, no upgrade. All services are started correctly. The backup worked fine for about a week, but then I got event 33152 in the log. I you insert a tape, the media should come online. But it's stays offline, and shows event 33152 in the log if you try to backup, catalog, test run,...

The device is compatible with Backup exec 10.0 (see HCL list). I tried to disable, delete and again re-enable the device, but the problem still occurs.

I uninstalled the Veritas software and re-installed it, but the problum still occurs.

Is this a hardware problem? If so, how does the garanty works?

Hello,

Please check out for any Event ID 5s, 7s, 9s, 11s, and 15s that may occur on system startup, or during backup.

Also ensure that the device is not connected to SCSI Target IDs 0, 1 or 6 since the IDs 0 and 1 are reserved for bootable disks and the ID 6 is reserved for the SCAM technology of Microsoft.

Please ensure that the latest device Drivers and the SCSI firmware and the drivers have been installed.

Hope it helps!
