Installed Backup Exec version 9.0 onto Windows 2000 server (also used as domain controller).

Since installation, whenever trying to launch the program, it crashed on initial screen.

The event ID 57803 is recorded every time the server is rebooted and the following info is given:

Event ID 57803: "An internal error (%1) occurred initializing object %2. The Backup Exec Server Service continuing to start" is reported in the Event Viewer during startup of the Backup Exec Server Service.
http://seer.support.veritas.com/docs/253607.htm

The web page indicated, gives the following details:
When receiving this message, take note of the internal error and the object number then contact VERITAS Technical Services.

Please help!!

Hello,

Is this a fresh install or an upgrade.
- Try the following technote.

Hi,

Thanks for the advice but we have already tried registering the dll and it did not resolve the problem. There is no actual error message on opening Backup Exec, the application just immediately crashes without loading the full page. The only error we have is the one I reported that shows in the event log.

Do you have any further suggestions?

We had already upgraded to 9.1 which did not resolve.

It seemed that the cause of the error was because we did not have an administrator entry for Create Token Object in Group Policies.

We have another issue now however. When we run an inventory job, Backup Exec crashes and the services will not completely stop or start - The Backup Server service stays at a "Stopping" status until we reboot the server to resolve.

Could you possibly help with this issue?

Thanks in advance for your help.

It appears that the issue faced by you is different from the one being discussed in this thread. It needs a different line of troubleshooting and hence, we request you to resubmit your query as a new post.
