Backup Failing Due to "Hardware Error"

Ryan_Mason
Not applicable
Veritas BE 10 Rev. 5520
Dell Poweredge Server
Adaptec 29320 ALP-R (Host Raid Disabled in SCSI BIOS)
Quantum M1500 Library with single HP LTO 3 drive

This is a new installation of scsi card/library/be in an existing server that did not have a backup solution.

Backup job launches in what appears to be normal fashion and has written from 300 to 2300 meg before failing with the following:

Final error: 0xe00084ed - A hardware error occurred.
Final error category: Backup Device Errors

Three entries are generated in the Applicaton Event Log. The ID's are 33152, 57665, 34113

An erase job will complete and flag as successful.

This is for one of our larger customers at a critcal stage so any help would be greatly appreciated.
