Exchange 2003 Recovery

On page 1132-1133 of the BackupExec 9.1 Administrator's Guide it mentions some instructions for disaster recovery of an Exchange 2003 server. Do you have to deploy the Exchange agent to the server after reinstalling Windows? Are you supposed to restore the system state of the server, but exclude the storage groups? The instructions are sketchy at best. Thanks in advance for any help with this.

The "Exchange Agent" is really just a license installed on your media server. What you will have to do is to restore the Remote Agent, in order to restore the System State.

Yes, you would ignore the Storage Groups initially. What you basically want is a booting server that starts the Exchange services, which is missing only the Mail Stores, before you then go and restore the mail stores.

Hi Anna,

Is the issue resolved? Please update us on the same.

Thanks.
