We are backing up our Exchange 2003 sp2 server using the BE Exchange Agent. I have built a test Exchange 2003 sp2 server in our test network an a different subnet. This test server is in a test domain which is a copy of our production domain (same accounts, etc). The BE Media server can talk to the test Exchange server and I have even added a DNS entry in my production domain that points to the test Exchange server. I also manually installed the BE remote agent onto the test Exchange server.
When I try to redirect our Exchange Information Store to the test Exchange server using the DNS name of the test server (it won't let you enter an IP address), the restore fails saying "Unable to attach to a resource. Make sure that all selected resources exist and are online, and then try again."
Has anyone successfully redirected exchange restores to a server in a different subnet or in a test domain? This is a trvial task with NT Backup, why should it be so complicated with BE?
