Exchange 2007 restore to RSG problem

Hello,
I've problem with restoring Exchange 2007 to Recovery Storage Group. I can correctly restore only FULL backups. If I try to restore incremental backups (logs), the job fails with Microsoft Exchange VSS error. It’s no matter I try to restore full and incremental backup sets in one job or in separated jobs - restore to RSG containing incremental backup sets always fails. Although backup jobs are working correctly and any restores (full and logs) to original storage group (not to RSG) are OK.

The job log contains:

Job Completion Status
Completed status: Failed
Final error: 0xe000fed1 - A failure occurred querying the Writer status.
Final error category: Resource Errors

Here is waht I get from 'vssadmin list writers' command on the Exchange server:
Writer name: 'Microsoft Exchange Writer'

   State: [14] Failed
   Last error: Retryable error

In the Windows application log on the Exchange machine I can find following events ID: 9717, 9718, 9715, 9621, 9619.

Restarting Exchange Information Store service and VSS service clears VSS error status but next restore jobs fail too. I’m not using AOFO. Media server BE11d 7170 on 32bit Windows machine.

Someone have any idea?
Thanks

Hi,

Sorry no one has been able to help you with your technical issue so far. Please note that this is a peer-to-peer discussion forum and not technical support.

Usually customers come to the rescue. Other times, when they are available, a Symantec employee will volunteer his/her time to find and help solve issues just like any other member of the community.

However, in this case, it looks like you might be better off contacting Symantec Support Services for 24/7 access to technical support professionals. You can also try using our Knowledge Base Search.

Hope that helps!
