Exchange 2010 restore issue.

Hi Guys.

We have since I installed Backup Exec 2010, a big issue with the restore.

It's doesn't work and I don't know why.

I received this issue:

Erreur finale : 0xe00002f8 - Individual mailbox restore from a GRT (Granular Restore Technology) Backup fails with error "cannot ...

I installed this hotfix: Backup Exec 2010 revision 2896 Hotfix 348284 , because fhd

But I can't restore mails into a recovery DB or somewhere else.

I have those errors in logs:

From the above statement I wonder if you are trying to restore individual emails or mailbox to the Recovery Database (RDB). That is not possible because only a complete Mailbox Database can be restored to the RDB and no individual items.

Individual emails or mailboxes should be restored to the same mailbox or can be redirect restored to another mailbox which is activated.

There is already SP1 released for BE 2010 2896 so you may try to install the SP1 first and then update the Remote agent on the Exchange server.

Using the following technote please check that the account used for the restore has got proper credentials and also check if the EWS is functioning properly

I had exactly this issue:

Error in the Job Log:
V-79-57344-760 - Unable to open the item Database - skipped

Final error: 0xe00002f8 - Cannot open one or more mail messages because of unknown MAPI errors. Review the job log for more information.

Error in the beremote debug log from the Exchange server:

I tried to acces on the CAS (EWS) with https://localhost/EWS/Exchange.asmx, but it was not possible with "localhost" only with IP like: https://192.168.y.z/EWS/Exchange.asmx, strange.. After check the IIS bindings (SSL was OK), I tried to ping localhost, but the result was: ::1 / ipv6 address, ipv6 was disabled on the NIC but not completely, I disabled it on the registry and put a # before the ::1 on the host file.

After a reboot of the CAS server, I tried to do my restore and.. SUCCESSFULLY !

I'm so happy because I spent a lot of time to search it !
