Exchange Backup

Hi

We are currently backing up our Information store (both mailboxes and public folders are selected) via the Veritas Exchange agent. Should we therefore exclude the individual Priv1 and Pub1 files from the same file backup?

Thanks in advanced.

Hello,

Yes, it is always recommended to backup Exchange database using the agent. You may exclude the priv1 and pub1 files from the file backup.

9.1 uses active file exclusion feature to exclude the Microsoft Exchange Server flat-files from the file system backup. For additonal information refer to the following technote:

Ttile: During the backup of an Exchange server, the Microsoft Exchange database files are skipped

Hope that answers your question. In case of further doubts, revert with details.
