Exchange GRT backup of Exchange 2010 and 2007

We're an IT consulting firm and hosts Exchange for a few of our clients.  We are running Exchange 2010 while our clients are running Exchange 2007.  We have been unable to turn on Exchange GRT backup because of issues backing up both versions of Exchange.  Can someone please confirm if this is supported?  We are using BE 2010 R3 running on Windows Server 2008 Standard.

Thanks.

Exchange 2010 Backups require the media server to be Windows 2008 R2 with the Exchange Management tools installed on it.

You should be able to install the Exchange Management tools for Exchange 2007 though and back up those versions of Exchange

Thanks Ben.  Would you be able to point me to a KB article or have more information on this?  I'm vaguely familiar of this and would appreciate more information.

Thanks!
