Exchange Jop Rate Changed - negatively

I am running the same job I have in the past to backup ONLY mailboxes and public folders. The job use to run at 50 mb/min. About 3 hours to backup 8 gb. That was good. Now its at 7MB/min. What is the deal? I understand backup is slow on these mailboxes, but nothing has been changed and it dropped tremendously!

Hello

The data transfer speed with Backup Exec is dependant on the following important factors (also refer to the Technotes given below as reference):
1) Operating System
2) Hardware
3) Network
Refer to the following TechNotes:
TITLE: Reasons why the data throughput rate can be slower than the theoretical maximum when backing up to tape media.
URL - http://seer.support.veritas.com/docs/231488.htm
TITLE: What VERITAS Backup Exec (tm) settings can be modified to reduce the amount of time it takes for a backup to run?

Ensure that you are not running the AntiVirus software in a dual mode (ie. VAPI/MAPI) but only in MAPI mode. Please refer the following document and make relevant changes in the AV software for Exchange 2003.

Hope this helps you.

Regards

If you have applied any hotfixes check the file versions list in the related documents closely. I experienced a marked slow down in backing up Exchange via remote agent after installing Hotfix 15. What I found was that the file versions of the remote agent on the remote server were not updated to the proper versions. I choose to copy the correct versions from the media server to the remote server and that fixed my slowdown issue with backing up my Exchange server.
