I have Backup Exec 15 version 14.2 rev 1180 (64bit) installed on a physical Windows Server 2008 R2. There is a mailbox I would like to restore for one user from our Exchange 2010 database backup. I had tried to restore it as PST to the local server that Backup Exec 15 is installed on and also have Outlook 2010 installed but received error "Final error: 0xe0001203 - An error occurred while creating or accessing the directory specified for this operation. Check to make sure that the B2D folder and/or the temporary path specified for this operation are valid." I have rebooted the server several times and retried but still same issues.I have attached screenshots of the job properties for the job.

Your Outlook is probably 64-bit so it is not supported.  See page 56 of the SCL below

I do not have 64 bit Outlook installed. It is 32bit.

Is the C:\mailbox directory an existing directory? Of not, crate it before running the restore

Try running BE as an administrator when doing three restore

I still get the same original error.

If you are restoring to the local BE server, specify localhost instead of the actual server name in "Where do you want to restore to" page.

Have you tried specifying a path for the .pst on a different volume apart from C:\ ?

Do ensure AV is not scanning the target directory, the BE account should have full access and no disk quota should be present.

Lastly, do verify the staging location set for the restore is appropriate. If not, change it and recreate the restore job as well. KB - https://support.symantec.com/en_US/article.TECH187371.html

Have you tried restoring another mail box from same backup?

Try to restore mail box from another backup set.

Accordingly you will decide that issue on backup set or any another.

During restoration make sure to AV is disable or at last target directory excluded from AV.
