Exchange server Log incremental backup issues.

I'm having the same problem as an old post dated: Sep 24, 2006 by a William Fung. There wasn't a resolution. I've tried the same suggestions and curious if there's a solution for this problem.

Full backup of exchange is OK. Incremental backup of infomation store is failing.

our environment:
Server 1: win2k3 sp1 w/ BUE v. 10d sp3.
Server 2: win2k3 sp1w/ Exchange Svr2k3 sp2.

AOFO: is set to automatic.

The error message :
Backup- SRV2 AOFO: Initialization failure on: "\\SRV2\Microsoft Information Store\First Storage Group". Advanced Open File Option used: Microsoft Volume Shadow Copy Service (VSS).
Snapshot provider error (0xE000FED1): A failure occurred querying the Writer status.
Check the Windows Event Viewer for details.
Writer Name: Exchange Server, Writer ID: {76FE1AC4-15F7-4BCD-987E-8E1ACB462FB7}, Last error: The VSS Writer failed, but the operation can be retried (0x800423f3), State: Failed during freeze operation (9). Consult your Microsoft documentation for details. Check the Windows Event Viewer for corresponding application or system errors.

On Exchange:

The InfoStor hangs in the morning and a reboot is necessary.
It just started happening.

I'm having the same problem.

I've tried the two links recommended. I've applied the hotfix and the problem persists.

Any other ideas?

I am able to do a full backup with no problems.

This is the error I get when trying a differential:

Do you have AOFO turned on while doing backup of Exchange? It Is recommended not to do so. I am not sure if "automatic selection of appropriate writer" is ok, or if AOFO has to be turned of. maybe somebody familiar with this topic may answer.
