Extreemly Slow Backups

Jeff_Maissan

We are using Backup Exec for Windows 9.1 with a Certance LTO 2 tape drive on Windows 200 Server.
Our backups were running in 3 1/2 hour, and now the are taking 17 hours to run. There have been no changes to Backupexec, windows, and no real change in the amount of data. I have re-ipled the server and no change?
Any Ideas on what I can try or where the problem bay be?

Hello,

1. Please see the technote below to resolve the issue:
http://support.veritas.com/docs/231488

2. Also please check whether the device is "tested" in the list below, if yes then please install latest veritas drivers from the link below:
HCL for Robotic library:
http://support.veritas.com/docs/271383

HCL for stand alone drives:
http://support.veritas.com/docs/271382

VERITAS Backup Exec (tm) 9.1 - Device Driver Installer (20050115) - Includes Tape Driver Release (20041231) and Robotic Library Release (45) (Intel Only) http://seer.support.veritas.com/docs/273853.htm

Thanks,

I noticed that the problem started after an re-boot. I am nt sure why (or how) they would have changed on their own, but I will check the SCSI parameter settings for he tape controller.

Hello,

We also suggest you to take the backup on the backup to disk folder.

Also execute the same backup job using the ntbackup utility to isolate the cause of the issue.
