Failed Backup Timed Out

Currently we can backup 4 out of 5 days each week using Backup Exec 9.1. One particular tape ( Our Wednesday tape) has failed the last four times. I can use one of the other tapes on this day and it will back up ok. I have erased & formatted & tested the Wednesday tape with VXA tools,and it tests ok.

Exabyte advise that the tape must be OK if VXA tools test it OK. They suggest using Backup Exec tools to format the tape. When I try to use the Media Device tools, the menu shows but is ghosted out and I cannot select the options. Can you advise how to fix this problem.

Hello,

It seems that you are unable to format the Wednesday tape. DOes the drive support this option? Refer to the following technote:

The "Format" operation is not available in Backup Exec for Windows Servers
