False media alert

I am trying a restore and an alert keeps coming up "Please remove the media from the drive", even though there is no media in the drive. My nightly backup works fine so the hardware is fine. Does anyone have an idea what is wrong?

Hi,

This may happen if you have not inventoried and then cataloged the media. Make sure that you have inventoried and cataloged the media before restore. Refer to the technote:

- How to troubleshoot simple restore operations when using VERITAS Backup Exec for Windows NT and Windows 2000
http://seer.support.veritas.com/docs/191079.htm

- You can configure Backup Exec respond to alerts automatically and verify the results. Configure Media Remove Alert as mentioned in following technote:

http://seer.support.veritas.com/docs/254685.htm

Ensure that the media is not a part of a spanned backup job. If yes then insert the first media of the spanned backup set and thne try restoring.

We hope this will help.
