Files not compressing

Marc_Griffin
Not applicable
My files are not being compressed as they are backed up. I have tried Software compression, and the Hardware options, and neither is working. I have confirmed that my hard drives are not compressed, and my backups are running, I'm just running out of tape space. The compression ratio is being listed as 1:1, or 1.16:1.

If you select Software Only, you will eliminate all drive issues

If you are still getting on 1.16:1, perhaps your data is not vry compressible

See http://seer.support.veritas.com/docs/199542.htm

Also, see http://seer.support.veritas.com/docs/273089.htm
Looks like 1.16:1 may be the default show for hardware compression, even tho BackupExec has absolutely no idea what the HW compression ratio is, since it happens after the data leaves BackupExec
