Looking through a few websites i think i have narrowed down the issue to different versions of the sqlvdi.dll file on the backup server.
The issue i have now is that were ive checked on the server the file version is both the same but the size of the file itself is different, as below.
C:\Program Files (x86)\Microsoft SQL Server\80\COM\sqlvdi.dll
Version - 2009.100.1600.1
Size 129kb
C:\Program Files\Microsoft SQL Server\80\COM\sqlvdi.dll
Version - 2009.100.1600.1
Size 163kb
Now my question is which one should i use and is it ok just to overwrite the wrong one with the correct file.
The server is Windows 2008 R2 Std and the Backup software is Backup Exec 2010 R3 all fully patched up.
If anyone can offer any thoughts which way to go, it would be most appreciated.

Would i need to register both the 32 bit and the 64 bit file in
C:\Program Files (x86)\Microsoft SQL Server\80\COM\sqlvdi.dll and
C:\Program Files\Microsoft SQL Server\80\COM\sqlvdi.dll
