I've been putting this off and off due to the perceived complexity of the issue. We have 15 win2000 servers and 1 backup exec v8.6 server looking after them all, dragging data from SAN storage to an attached LTO. Now we are introducing Win2003 servers, I've read that 8.6 doesn't want to back them up, and have tried but it really doesn't! So I'm currently using NTbackup to create shadow copies of these servers ported over to a win2000 SAN slice which can then be backed up. I don't have to go into detail of the problems here!
So here is my question, does anyone have any good methods for upgrading v8.6 to v10?
It looks to me like it all has to be done at the same time, backupserver, client server agents + reboots, and on high available server systems this gives only a small window of opportunity to perform this.
anyone got any horror/good stories from a previous go at this?
