Hi all !

I'm on a 9.1 Backupexec.

One job runs on this software. The probleme is, this job unpredictable stops, with this messsage :

"Le peripherique de stockage "HP 1" a signale une erreur pour la requete de ecrire les donnees sur le support.

Erreur indiquee :
Impossible de satisfaire a  la demande en raison d'une erreur de peripherique d'E/S."

In english : the reason of this issue : pheripheral error of In / Out.

I have tried to change the driver of my device, remove (software, not hardware) but nothing work.

On the other hand, this same job work properly when I specified another device. This second device is a "virtual" device, backup on the Hard Drive.

So, do you have any idea for my problem ?

I don't know the answer to your question but try:
-Cleaning tape drive
-try new tape
-test back up of small directory or amount of files to see if you can reproduce the error.
-power down and reseat all hardware speci
-If this is new drive call support and have them either help with issue or replace drive if possible.
Sounds like a hardware error but hard to tell.

Hope that helps a little.

I already try theses steps :

- Cleaning tape
- new tape

The server is continious in production, so it's difficult to power down this ...

Is there a way to test it ? (like memtest to test the RAM)

Basic workaround try following,

1. You may need to check whether your device is compatible with Backup exec v9,1

http://support.veritas.com/dsl/lists/device_ddProduct_BEWNT_media_all_prod1_NT9.htm

If the drive is compatible then ,

2. Download the latest drivers and install,
http://support.veritas.com/docs/273853

3. Update the Firmware from the manufacturer

Hope this helps.

Let us know the exact error message and more details about the situation if problem still persists.

My appologies for my delay.

After look at your links, my device seem work properly.

The upgrade of driver has work too.

After many other tests, the problem was the SCSI card, it wasn't the good version of SCSI ...

Many thanks for your help, your tips was very helpful.
