DLT Drive recognizes my DLT tape IV storage 20/40 GB with compression but my DLT tape is a 40/80 GB.
Do I need to do anything diffrent on my veritas software to make it recognize as 80GB tape.

40/80 Gb tape will only recognozed as 40Gb as that is the native capacity of the tape where it can hold up to 80 of of compressed data.

Make sure you have the latest drivers installed:
VERITAS Backup Exec (tm) 9.1 - Device Driver Installer (20041101) - Includes Tape Driver Release (20041006) and Robotic Library Release (45) (Intel Only)

Related Information.
1) Database data, executables and graphics files generally compress the least or not atll.
2) Regular text and data files will compress the most.

Even tho your tape is capable of 40/80, the drive itself (DLT4000) is only capable of 20/40

(And you'll probably NEVER get 40 out of it. I usually figure about 1.3:1 compression max)
