HP AH165A & Backup Exec 11d (SP3, rev.6235) - does not see Robotic Library

imation1000
Not applicable

Backup Exec 11d only sees the equipment as a Stand Alone Drive.

I have tried the following:

 - updated hardware drivers (both using HP & Symantec(built-in)

 - updated firmware for both robotic library & tape drive

 - replaced SCSI cable

 - HP LTT reports equipment is functioning properly (no warnings)

 - HP LTT can access the full functionality (drive test, library test, etc)

What am I missing ?

Thank you.

Hello,

As I understand, We have a TAPE Library with 8 Slots and 1 Drive. In the Backup exec console the TAPE Drive is listed under stand alone Drive and Backup Exec is not able to see the Medium changer.

Open Device Manager:

1  : The Drivers for the Medium changer must : Unknown Medium changer

2  : The Drivers for the TAPE Drivers must be "Symantec Drivers"

      Driver Download : support.veritas.com/docs/300325 (32-bit)

3  : Open the Services Window (services.msc) The Removable Storage must be stopped and disabled

4  : Look for event ID: 7,9,11,15 in the system events for any Hardware error.

      support.veritas.com/docs/255501

Other Option:

1  : Turn OFF the Server and the TAPE Library

2  : Disconnect the TAPE Library from the Server

3  : Turn ON the Server (This will delete all the entries for the TAPE Library from the Operating System)

4  : Turn OFF the Server and Connect the Library and turn the Library ON, let it come up

5  : Turn ON the Server

6  : Open the Device Manager and look for the "Medium Chanhers" and the "TAPE Drive"

7  : Open Backup Exec and Check if the medium Changer and the TAPE Drive is listed under Robotic Library

Best Regards
