The item \\EVS1\M:\EXCHSRVR\MDBDATA\pub1.stm in use - skipped.
The item \\EVS1\M:\EXCHSRVR\MTADATA\AP0.LOG in use - skipped.

The item \\EVS1\M:\EXCHSRVR\MTADATA\db000003.dat in use - skipped.
The item \\EVS1\M:\EXCHSRVR\MTADATA\DB000027.DAT in use - skipped.
The item \\EVS1\M:\EXCHSRVR\MTADATA\DBREFS in use - skipped.
The item \\EVS1\M:\EXCHSRVR\MTADATA\EV0.LOG in use - skipped.

Backup- \\EVS1\Q: Quorum
The item \\EVS1\Q:\MSCS\quolog.log in use - skipped.

It seams the Exchange Information Store, current Transaction Log and cluster quorum log are always skipped.

I'd like to know too.

Or how can I create a map to skip them.

I'd like to see a clean error log.

The files being skipped are Exchange database and log files. These should NOT be backed up during a regular file backup. If you indeed have the Exchange agent and are backing up your Exchange data via the Exchange selections, there is no need to back up the files seperately. When the Backup Exec Remote Agent starts on the Exchange server, it checks the status of the Exchange files and should exclude them in any file backup if they are online. You can find some info here: http://support.veritas.com/docs/277230 and http://support.veritas.com/docs/276229 and http://support.veritas.com/docs/259152

It may be because Exchange is clustered that the files are attempted. I would highly recommend deselecting them from the file backup.

Thanks Russ.

Any idea about the Quorum Log? That's also a critical file. I believe if I lost that I wouldn't be able to restore my cluster.

Hi David,

Please let us know if you are using the AOFO option for the the backups.

No, we don't have the AOFO option. Will we need it to backup these files?
