How far is version 10d backwards compatible?

Bob_Dillen
Not applicable
I want to find out what older version of BE (e.g. 5; 6; 7; 8; 8.5) can be imported into BE v10d? I don't mind recreating the catalogs but just want to make sure that I am able to restore previous created backups.

I have the same question for version 9.1. What versions can be imported with version v9.1?

Thanks,

Bob

Not sure about v5, but from v6.0 onwards, Seagate/Veritas/Symantec have used MTF (Microsoft Tape Format) to write data to tape. As such, as long as your current tape drive is compatible with the original drive, and as long as the tapes themselves are still good, you should have no trouble cataloging and restoring from any previous versions.

Hi,

As mentioned in the earliar Post if the Tape format is MTF (Microsoft Tape Format) and tapes are getting correct inventoried and imported , you can run catalog operation.
