How to Clean the Standalone Drive.

Hi All,
Need help... How to clean the standalone Drive.. As the option for that is not highlighted. Please help me.......

The "Cleaning" option is available for autoloaders or tapeloaders which have a dedicated cleaning slot.


For standalone drives a "cleaning tape" is available from the hardware manufacturers side, which when inserted does the job.

Thanks for the information.... But its not shows in the Drives Properties. Please explane...

For a standalone drive, you cannot run a cleaning job in BackupExec, either scheduled or run-now

Simply insert the cleaning tape, wait for it to eject, tick one of the check boxes on the cleaning tape lable, and when all boxes are checked (usually 20 ) toss the cleaning tape and start using another.

You don't want to clean too often, because the cleaning tapes are slightly abrasive and will eventually wear out the heads

Check your drive documentation for suggested cleaning intervals, then  setup your sechedule to match
