How to uninstall BackUp Exec 8.X

FredB
Level 3
We've lost the software from Veritas. Backup Exec is installed on
one of our servers. All we want to do is uninstall the product. When we try and do an uninstall from Add/Remove
Programs, we get a dialog box that says its trying to find
the 'Veritas ExecView Communication Module.msi' file. Since we lost the software, we cant uninstall the product.
Any Ideas?

Hi Fred,

I'd start by deleting the installation folders (?:\Program Files\Symantec or whatever you installed it as).
Once done, make sure there are no folders on another drive/partition referencing BEWS, and if so delete them too. That includes SQL entries for your BEWS DB.
Download Microsoft's Windows Installer Cleanup Utility from here and run it...

This will allow you to delete the entries safely out of the registry. That said, because it is the registry you're dealing with (and where this entry is preventing you from uninstalling the application), just make a backup of it first.
