I/O Frozen During SQL Backup Causes SharePoint Deadlock

Hi,

We've got an issue, we've only had it a few times, last time would have been a few months back. During a SQL backup BackupExec stops, the job doesn't fail it just doesn't progress, it leaves the database in a frozen state. The database is a 90GB SharePoint database, the log file was around 6GB and has since been truncated.

The backup job is a 'Full Backup', AOFO is on.

Does anybody have any clue as to why this randomly happens?

Try the backup with AOFO off. I was told not to use it, as it stops a number of things like redirecting the restore of SQL DBs to another server.
Are there any specific error messages?
