IDR restore of Domain Controllers

When I do IDR restores of my Domain Controllers the Net Shares SYSVOL & NETLOGON are not restored. The Shares with the data are being backed up with no errors. The data is restored, but the share in not. what needs to be done to correct this.

The reason I ask is that none of my restore Domain Controllers are taking to each other. I can ping and I can logon to them, but I can not create a new user in the Active Directory and use it.

This leave my disaster recovery plan worthless.

When you do the backups are you backing up the System State on the DC's?

You do not need to backup up the SYSVOL and NETLOGON shares - System State backup will take care of these.

Yes, I am backing up the System State on the DC's. When the restore is done they are not restored as shares.

When you do the IDR restores - how are they being done, in a test environment or a spare server on the production network? I know this may seem a pointless question but I have known customers try to do IDR test restores of production servers in their production environment.

I also want you to try a manual restore that is, don't use IDR - this should ascertain that your backups are OK.
