Impossible to konfigure Backup-to-Disk Drive

Gerhard001

Dear Sirs,

I have installed a Windows Server 2012 R2 and Symantec Backup Exec 2014.

For testing backup-to-disk i configured a local Disk and it works fine. But if i wants to configure a second b-to-d drive i allway get the error "the path seems to be invalid. Please test the server- and sharename."

In Windows-Explorer i can connect the drive and i can read and write on this disk.

Another server (windows Server 2008 R2 with Symantec Backup Exec 2012) the configuration of the same b-to-d disk path works without any problems.

Where is the mistake? The adjustments of the Symantec Backup Exec 2012 und -2014 are almost identical.

and a second question:

it is possible to make full backups to library and inkremental packups to disk?

Greetings from Gerhard001

1. Where is the problem disk storage located and what is the path that you specify? 2. You cannot do some incremental backup if the full backup is not present. It is better to keep the entire backup chain together

Thank you for the answers.

The backup-server is Windows Server 2012 R2 in a workgroup. The problem disk storage is a netapp with a share for backup-to-disk.

The path is \\xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx\b2d$

Another server Windows Server 2008 R2 with symantec backup exec 2012 the same share works fine without any entry in DNS or in the hosts.

Thanks for help.

Today I added the backup-user to the hidden share and now it works. I thougt the user in the group "Backup-Operators" have automatically read/write rigths.

Many thanks for your help. The problem is solved now.

Greetings
