I'm getting very inconsistent backup times, when backing up different server zones through firewalls.
Zone1 -> PIX 515E Firewall -> Gigabit Switch -> Nokia IP390 Firewall -> Gigabit Switch -> Backup Server
Zone2 -> Nokia IP390 Firewall -> Gigabit Switch -> Backup Server
Zone3 -> Gigabit Switch -> Backup Server
Each Zone has identically setup Blade servers.
Zone3 servers backup at approx 3GB/min
Zone2 servers backup at approx 300MB/min
Zone1 servers backup at approx 30MB/min
The IP390 firewall can process data at approx 4.5GB/Min
The PIX515E firewall can process data at approx 900MB/Min
It's obviously something to do with the network setup, but in theory I should be able to backup Zone1 at 900MB/min!
It's very inconsistent too, sometimes Zone1 will backup at 300MB/min and sometimes Zone2, will slow to 50MB/min. Zone3 is always lightning fast.
If I look at the stats on my PIX firewall the processor is at 0% usage and the data throughput is crawling at the bottom of the graph, so it's not that the firewall is maxed out or anything!
Any suggestions for how I can diagnose the problem?
