Invalid Element Address

I have installed an Exabyte VXA2 Packet Loader. I am not using the Bar code reader. When the tapes are installed in the slots they all come up as "Unknown media" under the media description. If I try to do an Inventory I get the following error :- a0008212 - Library error - invalid element address. I have carried out the instructions as per doc 190875 for new media, but no joy. Any ideas.

Hello,

1. Please refer to the following technotes if the device is compatible with backup exec.

Title : Backup Exec 9.x for Windows Servers Robotic Library Hardware Compatibility List (HCL) (includes tested drives)

If it is please install the latest Veritas drivers:

If not then install the OEM drivers.

Verify that you have the latest firmware

Verify that the device is not connected to a RAID controller since it is not supported by Backup Exec. Please use a SCSI card with SCSI drivers.

Try the steps in the following technote:

Most importantly please check if the media used is compatible with the device.

Thanks for that. I had tried most of what you said already- but the device removal and adding seemed to have fixed the problem.
